We invite our members to suggest additional meeting topics and to present meeting topics.

Presenters need not be experts. We're all learning together.

    2010 MeetingTopics

    • January 9 - Paper Bowls - Learn about the process of creating something unique from paper pulp and fibers.
    • February 6 - Field trip to the Southwest Collection to see the Artist Books Collection. (Hostess: Carla)
    • March 6 - Recycled Projects - projects made from repurposed fibers. (Hostess: Pat & Mary). Meet at the Groves Library!
    • April 3 - Field trip to Plainview for Basket Workshop. Spend a day creating and weaving your own basket! (Hostesses: Annette & Cinde) We'll meet at 10:30 at the First Baptist Church in Plainview (basement). Bring a Rubbermaid tub, pliers, a narrow flat-head screwdriver, and a box cutter if you have one. Stay tuned for information about carpooling.
    • May 1 - Stash Swap. Clean out your closets and swap to renew your stash, or we might even pull together our own wild and crazy mix to make a Summer Fiber Challenge. (Hostesses: Carol & Lynn B.)

    • December 4 - We usually do not hold a December meeting. However last year we had a potluck lunch which was well-attended. A decision for December 2010 will be made later.

2009 MeetingTopics

    • January 3 - Favorite Fiber Arts Books
    • February 7 - Machine Embroidery, presented by Billie Conley @ the Bernina Sewing Center.
      Billie has helped us create an exciting field trip to the Bernina Sewing Center to have the experts share the world of Machine Embroidery and show us just how just about anything you can think of can come out of your machine.

    • March 7 - Spinning from the Beginning, presented by Becky & Annette.
      Road Trip to Plainview! It will be an exciting morning learning the spinning process from the very beginning and you know we’ll have to do lunch too! Details to come...carpools to be organized.

    • April 4 - Spring & Green! presented by Carol & Lisa Sperry @ the Ranching Heritage Center. Great ideas for recycled fibers of all kinds!
    • May 9 - Share your favorite "Take-Along" projects.
    • September 12 - Welcome Back meeting. Share news and projects as the Heritage Fiber Guild begins a new year.
    • October 3 - Christmas Ornament Show-n-Tell. Collect ideas in time to create some yourself!
    • November 7 - Silk scarves mini-workshop. Create tissue paper bleed scarves that make easy and beautiful gifts for the holiday season.
    • December 5 - Celebrate the Season Lunch. Bring your in-progress projects for show & tell or for encouragement to finish them before the holidays!
